I feel that the heavy and blind reliance Albertans have on the oilfield industry has to end, like a decade or two ago. The Economy surrounding oil is slowly shrinking and the world is slowly working it’s way away from oil as a source of energy. In Alberta, if we solved the energy storage and transference issues of solar and wind power we would be able to cut back on oil usage and reliance in Alberta no problem. I can guarantee that investing in these solutions would cost the government very little in the end with a higher payoff, including a much better view surrounding Canada and Alberta’s commitment to battling climate change and being environmentally friendly.
